We had over 70 sessions, a Pow Wow, Youth track, WASTalks, and alive recording with Native America Calling, and over 500 participants! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for making this possible.

Greetings Relatives,
Kuu da woha (thank you) to all who joined us at the 2023 Women Are Sacred conference held in Isleta Pueblo. We are grateful to all who practiced community care by engaging in our layered mitigation strategy by testing, wearing a mask, and doing the self-symptom assessment. The intention of this prevention strategy was to provide an equitable, accessible, and safe gathering space for all participants as a practice of community care. Much gratitude to the youth who also participated and built DIY Corsi Rosenthal air purifiers in the WAS Youth Track, hosted by NIWRC’s Native Love program.
As we move to be together again in person, may we practice creating more accessible spaces as the impacts of chronic illness from Long COVID impact our communities. This article, entitled “Indigeneity and Disability: The Teachings of our Ancestors and Being in Relation Towards Harmonious Outcomes,” featured in the Disability Visibility Project by Dr. Sandra Yellowhorse, speaks to the importance of turning to our stories and teachings to guide our actions in this current time.
“Our ancestors were careful in their planning to consider all our relations, and provided us these blueprints, as both an understanding and a practice, to caretake one another with radical love.” - Dr. Sandra Yellowhorse (Diné)
